Chapter 1.01 - Plans & Drawings. The Beginning

That's how sketchy the layout plan I've got.
Typically a sub-sale property transaction will take months to complete, with various legal works like Sales & Purchase Agreement, Loan Documents, Transfer of Deed & many more. I thought this is the good period for me to have some fun & work on the design while those boring stuff is running behind, hopefully all design decisions & necessary documentations will fall in its own places as soon as I've got the key, no time wasting paying loan installment for a vacant house.

I've been trying to search online for a layout plan of the particular unit I've purchase, probably due to the fact that it's not a typical unit, my hours swimming in Google Image search are pretty much wasted effort. Then, I turned to my real estate agent, he sent me a very, very, very sketchy plan, the only plan he has for my unit.

Chapter 00 - An Intro

My family & I started our house shopping a month ago, it's all begins after our current home is way too dated with too many issues & problems, 25 years un-renovated. I've figured instead of spending large sum of cash in renovating it, buying a new home with mortgage loan would save me quite a significant amount of money. This is possible due to reduced renovation budget required to a new property, keeping those money earning bank's interests & we gets to own 2 properties that both are ballooning in value, if we choose a right one. Most importantly, I get to own a property lawfully under my name.

It didn't take us long to found this property, while I was mentally prepare it's going to be a very heated process to cater various views from me & my family, my mom to be specific. I've scheduled a 2 months long of property viewing itinerary at various locations but what I've ended up buying is the second property that we're viewing, decision was made within 10 minutes after viewing it. It was  a mutual agreement between me & mom that it's a good buy, for the price, the brand of developer, the location, the spatial quality we're getting, the potential of its value appreciation, almost every aspect except built quality. Yet, we really shouldn't expect much after considered that the price of this property is valued below RM500/sqft & I can easily put my touches in improving those flaws since renovation is indeed expected.

I'm now in the midst of getting all legal procedures sorted and the property will most likely be handed over to me in 5 months from now, a perfect period for me to ponder and design this home. As soon as I asked what do I want, immediately I found myself in dilemma. There's just too much that I've wanted & too little space (or money) to execute them!

A small tiny part of my dilemma, to share how painful it is. I'd like to have a decent laundry area that allows drying (I'm not a fan of tumble dryer), a kitchen that suitable for Asian cooking, another kitchen I can bake & socialize comfortably, a breakfast bar & a new store room (since Asian mother simply loves to hoards). All of those mentioned nicely tucked in a space where I'd like to called "back of house" but it's a freaking condo! Not a penthouse or some poshy multi-millions, 3000sqft luxury condos, although that's what my professional specialty is...

Here is where I document my decision making thought process & the outcome of those (wise & not-so-wise) ideas.
